Jabatan Kerja Raya Johor was established in 1873 and was known as the Jabatan Tanah dan Kerja Raya .This department and other departments of shaking that is at that most employ European officers on a contracts basis. Each department was palced under the control of the State Secretary of Johor. In 1883 ,there are specific tasks that more clearly the sepatation of the Jabatan Kerja Raya from the Jabatan Tanah and placed under a British Commissioner in the cintaract ,This Department is based in Johor Baharu.
